Chessy - bees in the mountain pasture

In mid-spring, when conditions are favorable, we bring a few hives to the mountain pasture in Chessy, at an altitude of 1,600 meters, above Les Avants, to keep the cows company... Up there, they enjoy an exceptional environment! In the sparse meadows, they forage on rare mountain flowers, blueberry fields, and fir trees. We have observed that the colonies develop well and benefit from more consistent blooms during the summer months.

It's not guaranteed; it depends on the weather and the bees' and flowers' well-being, but sometimes we harvest delicious honey from mountain flowers, blueberry blossoms, and other wild plants.

However, for this 2025 season, there will be no harvest in Chessy. We did bring two hives there, but a little too late, as the honey flow in Les Avants was in full swing. Both colonies are doing well, but the harvest will be for next year, if the season allows.
